Gizachew Asinakew is more than a kidney transplant patient. He is a devoted husband, a loving father of four children, and the foundation of his family in Ethiopia. His greatest joy is spending time with his wife and children, encouraging them in school, and working hard to provide them with a better future.
Today, Gizachew is facing the greatest challenge of his life.
He has been diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure, and doctors have determined that a kidney transplant is now his only hope for survival. Because this specialized procedure is not currently accessible to him in Ethiopia, he must travel to India, where experienced transplant specialists can perform the surgery and provide the medical care he urgently needs.
Unfortunately, Gizachew has no health insurance and no financial resources left to pay for this life-saving treatment.
Just recently, Gizachew faced another heartbreaking battle.
One of his young daughters was diagnosed with cancer.
Like any loving father, he refused to give up on his child. He made the difficult decision to use his entire lifetime savings to take her from Ethiopia to Israel for specialized cancer treatment.
Because of his incredible sacrifice, determination, and faith, his daughter successfully completed her treatment and is now a cancer survivor.
Today, the father who sacrificed everything to save his daughter’s life is now fighting for his own.
After exhausting every dollar he had to save his child, Gizachew has nothing left to fund the kidney transplant that could save him.
His greatest wish is simple—to regain his health, return home to his family, continue working, and watch his three children grow up.
The Walia Charity Association is coordinating this fundraising campaign to help Gizachew access the medical care he urgently needs.
After consultation with medical professionals and careful planning, India has been identified as the most appropriate destination for his kidney transplant.
We are seeking to raise $25,000 USD to cover the essential costs of this life-saving journey for Gizachew and his wife, who will accompany him as his primary caregiver throughout surgery and recovery.
| Category | Estimated Cost (USD) |
|---|
| Kidney transplant surgery, hospitalization, and diagnostics | $13,000–$18,000 |
| Round-trip airfare (Patient & Wife) | $1,500–$2,500 |
| Accommodation in India (6–8 weeks) | $1,500–$3,000 |
| Food and local transportation | $1,000–$2,000 |
| Medical visas, documentation, and other necessary expenses | $500–$1,500 |
| Total Estimated Cost | Approximately $25,000 |
Your donation is more than financial support.
It is an opportunity to give a father another chance at life.
Your generosity will help provide:
Whether your gift is $25, $50, $100, or any amount, every contribution brings Gizachew one step closer to receiving the transplant he urgently needs.
Every donation, regardless of size, helps remove the financial barrier standing between Gizachew and the life-saving transplant that could restore his health.
If you are unable to donate, you can still make an incredible difference.
Please share this campaign with your family, friends, coworkers, faith community, and social networks. Every share increases the chances of reaching someone who can help save Gizachew’s life.
Your prayers, encouragement, and messages of hope mean the world to Gizachew and his family during this difficult journey.
At Walia Charity Association, we believe that no family should lose a loved one simply because they cannot afford life-saving medical care.
Today, we ask you to stand with Gizachew and his family.
Six months ago, he gave everything he had to save his daughter’s life.
Today, together, we have the opportunity to help save his.
Your kindness, compassion, and generosity can give a devoted husband, a loving father, and a hardworking man the second chance he desperately needs.
Thank you for opening your heart to Gizachew and his family.
